A REAL NANTUCKET WEDDING Ashley Upton & Diego Mendez, July 4th 2006
They both took a great deal of interest in planning their special day, as did Ashley’s mother, Linda. Their goal was to really transform the house into the perfect wedding event location for a gathering of close friends and family. Nantucket Catering Company's Eithne Yelle did an amazing job with the large entry room, which served as both the reception area and sit-down dining room. Ashley and her mother decided to place candles throughout the room, in the fireplace and on the mantelpiece, to give a romantic edge to the lighting. The nuptials took place at the end of the long backyard with a splendid view towards the North shore. Two close friends created a path of flower petals for Ashley and her father to walk down. Both a classical guitarist and cellist performed during the ceremony and for the cocktail hour. Sperry Tents supplied a beautiful blue tent with stars and lights, placed at the corner of the back yard for cocktail hour. Photographer Wayne Chinnock took advantage of the families porch swing for some personal portraits of the newly married couple. Ashley and Diego chose a classic Clambake dinner for their special day with an elegant yet simple cake design. After dinner, each guest spoke briefly on how they had met Ashley and Diego and imparted their words of hope and wisdom towards the newlyweds. Though fog rolled in canceling the fireworks, it only added to the ambience of Ashley and Diego’s special day and evening. View another Real Nantucket Wedding >
