A REAL NANTUCKET WEDDING

Marie & Tim, September 23, 2006

Marie & Tim - A Real Nantucket WeddingTim and Marie met during his senior year at Nantucket high school. He played soccer and she was an athletic trainer. Marie remembers wrapping his ankle before a game, but things stayed ‘strictly professional.’  The couple started dating after Marie graduated high school. After dating on and off again for a few years, fate brought these two back together and Tim popped the question.

Marie & Tim - A Real Nantucket WeddingNantucket was a natural choice for the couple to hold their nuptials since Marie grew up on the island. Where on the island to get married was a bit harder to agree on. The ceremony was held at First Congregational Church as that was the church Marie attended as a child. They realized early on that a big Nantucket wedding wasn’t their style so they opted for a more intimate day.

Marie started her wedding day routine off with all of her bridesmaids at the Andrea Marie Salon. Here the ladies enjoyed a relaxing morning while getting their hair done and chatting about the day ahead.

Marie & Tim - A Real Nantucket WeddingThe reception was held at the gardens at one of the Nantucket Historical Association properties. Kendra Lockley from Simply with Style Catering helped bring to life the bride’s vision of an elegant garden celebration. Dawn Kelly of Soiree Floral worked with the bride to create a beautiful palette of purple, greens and whites, the perfect color scheme for a garden setting. The bride loved that the centerpieces were all different, and whimsical butterflies were used as accents in everything from the arrangements to the flower orbs that greeted guests on their way in. The bride’s mom helped with many other special touches such as hand embroidered napkins with the couple’s initials, and the decoupage take away boxes for each guest. Marie and Tim’s choice for a photographer was easy. The bride has known Claudia Kronenberg of Claudia Kronenberg Photography for many years. Brea McDonald, an associate photographer at the studio, took the couple to several locations on the island to capture a few quiet moments between them. Marie said “their ability to capture the day was above and beyond what I imagined it could be."
