The Opera House Cup Regatta, held on the 3rd Sunday in August for the last 34 years, was started in July 0f 1973, by local Nantucket restauranteurs Gwen Gaillard and Chick Walsh. It was the first all-wooden, single-hulled classic boat regatta on the East Coast. |
