We're Engaged!

Engagement Sessions are a great way for the photographer and engaged couple to get to know each other before the wedding, and the pictures can be used in a variety of ways.

Zofia Waig, of Zofia Photography, takes her couples to locations on Nantucket that are special to them as well as her favorite nooks. The images are then used to create cards for the reception that tell the guests where their images will be online, as well as in custom Coffee Table Books or Guest Sign-in Books. Her couples also use the images for Save the Dates and engagement announcements.

"Engagement Sessions are my favorite way of breaking the ice and ensuring my couples are relaxed in front of my camera before the wedding day."

A Tent With A View

Many of Nantucket's private homes offer stunning vistas, and with the expertise and creative vision of Nantucket wedding planners and rental companies, a tent with a view is an extraordinary way to host a Nantucket wedding.

Aisling Glynn of ACKtivities designed the tent floor to be built straight out from this home in Shimmo toward the water to give the illusion of an "infinity" tent.

Chase Canopy executed the tent set-up brilliantly, Soiree Floral created the gorgeous floral design, and Placesetters completed the stunning decor with custom tabletops.

Another Tent with A View in this beautiful setting at the Groom's Grandparent's home in Squam was designed by Sperry Tents.

Whether seen by air or sea, from inside or outside, a tent with a view makes for a glorious Nantucket wedding venue.

Small Weddings - Big Occasions

The details can make small weddings feel like big occasions. Using creativity to add personal touches to accessories, flowers, and color schemes is a good place to start.

Coordinating colors in shoes and flowers, or ties and tablecloths, expresses the couple's personalities and symbolizes their unity as well as equality in the wedding planning.

Elope to Nantucket!

Nantucket is the perfect setting for any type of wedding, but Gordon McGregor's favorites to perform are the small elopements or sweet small group weddings with just close family and friends. Gordon, an ordained interfaith minister, says he loves it when people choose to have a small wedding allowing the couple to take the money they save to pursue something special as they move forward as a married couple.

With "Couples saying 'I don't' to expensive weddings" (USA Today, 8/5/09), wedding plans are being affected by the economy, whether from necessity or choice. A small, intimate wedding allows for mobility and creativity on Nantucket, and the weddings can be set everywhere from a beautiful sunset at Brant Point, Madaket or Great Point to the white bridge in 'Sconset, to a deck overlooking a magical Nantucket setting. Gordon calls this the "boutique wedding"; sweet, small, charming, and usually less nerves!

Big or small according to Gordon, the important thing to remember is your wedding is the beginning of your life together so make it something you want and that represents the couple's core beliefs. And remember to have FUN!

Nantucket: A Season For All Weddings

Photo by Claudia Kronenberg/Flowers by Flowers on Chestnut

What is the best season for a wedding on Nantucket? Although June and September are the prime months for Nantucket weddings, each season on the island has its own special charm. What better way to express that charm than through the language of flowers. As nature's messengers of love and remembrance, flowers represent the very essence of a wedding - its colors, themes, and traditions.

On Nantucket, daffodils and forsythia herald the coming of Spring, while fragrant flowerings of roses and hydrangeas adorn Summer's gardens. Fall on Nantucket is glorious with the rich, tawny hues of the moors and cranberry bogs. Celebrate a wedding in December when the air is crisp and the island is decorated with the evergreens and reds of the holidays. Whatever the season, Nantucket provides a stunning backdrop for the floral displays in a wedding.
