Spring on Nantucket!

Spring is finally here - or at least the hope of Spring, with daffodils starting to bloom all over Nantucket. Our Nantucket wedding vendors are blooming as well, with Nantucket weddings being published in several wedding magazines, such as Well Wed, Spring/Summer 2010.

Jennifer and Erik took a cue from the island location in choosing a mint and teal color scheme, which showed to great advantage in their wedding pictures showcased in The Knot, Boston Spring/Summer 2010 issue. With more than ten Nantucket wedding vendors as part of "their ingredients", it was truly a classic Nantucket wedding.

Our weddings are also being blogged about...Boston Hearts Weddings raved about Leila and Steve's wedding, saying "...some of our favorite vendors helped to make it all happen."

So, we're looking forward to Spring and the beginning of a wonderful wedding season on Nantucket, with many more beautiful weddings and the work of our fantastic Nantucket wedding vendors to share!

Brides love looking through wedding and fashion magazines for ideas and inspirations in planning their weddings. Nantucket's wedding vendors have been well represented in publications ranging from Well Wed, La Bella Bride, Cape Cod Bride, Boston Weddings and Grace Ormonde, to N Magazine and Coastal Living.

Well Wed's Spring/Summer 2009 issue featured fifteen of our wedding specialists in articles such as "Color Palette", "Ship to Shore", and "Green Wedding Basics"

In the "Fabulous Cape Weddings" department, Zofia Photography captured the essence of an environmentally friendly wedding celebration on Nantucket.

Another featured wedding, expertly coordinated by Aisling Glynn of ACKtivities, involved many of Nantucket's finest wedding purveyors, including Nantucket Event Media who videographed the event.

Adorning the cover of Well Wed's Fall/Winter 2009 issue, Jodi's Cakes luscious ivory cake detailed with blue hydrangeas and brushed with hints of gold perfectly complemented the "Orange, Blue and Gold" color palette of the article.

For Claudia Kronenberg, shooting an engagement session is a wonderful opportunity to work with the Bride and Groom before the wedding. It gives her a chance to get to know them a little and it enables the couple to see the process of not only the shooting of the photos, but the way to view and order them. It also gives them a less formal portrait which is nice to have in their new home, as gifts for parents and friends, or to use for the "Save The Date" announcement.

Engagement Sessions are a great way for the photographer and engaged couple to get to know each other before the wedding, and the pictures can be used in a variety of ways.

Zofia Waig, of Zofia Photography, takes her couples to locations on Nantucket that are special to them as well as her favorite nooks. The images are then used to create cards for the reception that tell the guests where their images will be online, as well as in custom Coffee Table Books or Guest Sign-in Books. Her couples also use the images for Save the Dates and engagement announcements.

Nantucket is the perfect setting for any type of wedding, but Gordon McGregor's favorites to perform are the small elopements or sweet small group weddings with just close family and friends. Gordon, an ordained interfaith minister, says he loves it when people choose to have a small wedding allowing the couple to take the money they save to pursue something special as they move forward as a married couple.

With "Couples saying 'I don't' to expensive weddings" (USA Today, 8/5/09), wedding plans are being affected by the economy, whether from necessity or choice. A small, intimate wedding allows for mobility and creativity on Nantucket, and the weddings can be set everywhere from a beautiful sunset at Brant Point, Madaket or Great Point to the white bridge in 'Sconset, to a deck overlooking a magical Nantucket setting. Gordon calls this the "boutique wedding"; sweet, small, charming, and usually less nerves!
